Great to see all your fine hats basking in the sun as well.

Much in agreement with Daniele, it is the Borsalino Ecosan Biber capturing my attention.

Thank you for your compliment, that shirt always gets attention. It was an amazing gathering with a couple of TD's there. The MG TD is the car that I desired but Tina was against an open top car, the Y-Type that we have is like a sedan version of the TD but without the twin carbs.

A bespoke, cream coloured, Gamble & ***n for church this morning, although that may change later on. Enjoy the long holiday weekend Loungers.
As always. Robert, you look magnificent.

Great Caesar's ghost!! What an amazing display this week, Stefan. I'm automatically eliminating the Mayser Wildleder, simply because I almost always place it first whenever it appears. So, with that one out of the running, I'm going with the Barbisio Lontra Misto Ferro in first place, due to its MAGNIFICENT heathering. Second place goes to to the Borsalino Ecosan Biber, and third to the Penumbra. Thanks for the awesome display!

Sunday Greeting all! Dull, Overcast sky on east Texas today so it seemed like a good morning for a subdued hat. This one my newest Open Road that actually came out of my familys hometown of Cookeville, Tennessee. A 3x Long Oval with embrordered last drop liner. One of my few cattlemans crease hats

I normally wear things with the front snapped down, but heres a shot snapped up all around just for grins

Perfection, Rick. You actually make it look terrific in either position.

In my humble opinion, its a perfect candidate for a keeper. sew in a nice quality sweatband and get a nice new satin liner. from my leather experience, once soft leather dries like that it will continue to deteriote. About the only option is to seal the surface with a top coating like Tan Kote or Resinol ( From tandy Leather) to seal the embossing in so it doesnt continue to flake off. Salvage the Stetson 100 embossings and affix to the new sweat and the center of the liner

Timmy did a nice logo salvage a while back and affixed it to the top of the new sweat ( the smaller "Stetson 100" would be a great one for that). The larger logo would look good attached to the center of a new liner. I did that to a nice old Knox a while back

You gotta think about how rarely nice affordable 100's show up.. My vote is to rebab it a bit and wear it proudly

It does seem like a great candidate for a keeper with a new sweat and liner. It would be a pity to keep a hat like that and not wear it.

I think you should do a full restoration and separately decide if you want to keep it or flip it. An early 50s 100 has to be one of the best quality hat bodies available and yours seems to be in great shape and worth the restoration time and material cost. In addition to keeping any 100 provenance you can, I recommend that you take good photos all along the restoration process. If you do end up flipping it, the restored hat itself along with the restoration photos should provide compelling story and help establish a high value.

Good luck!

My .02.

Thanks a bunch, men!
Well thought out, useful answers and I REALLY do appreciate it and the men who reached out to help.
I like what you three said, including the advice to take documentation pics of the full restoration project.
I added the option to simply flip it-as is-in order to offer up various considerations for this great hat, but believe me, there’s no way I could have done that, as I enjoy the compulsion to repair, restore, or improve every old vintage hat that comes my way.
I’ll make the final decision on keeping or flipping when the project is completed, but for now, I’m saying I’ll keep her and hope that somehow it works out where I can reuse all its components, saved intact.
If not, know I’ve done my best to try.

Thank you, gentlemen. Four of these haven't had a full posting here yet, as they came in this week. Coming soon.

Nice! I've seen pictures of Y-Types, but I've never seen one up close. I hope to have the opportunity to see one in person one day.

I should also tell you that a couple of weeks ago my wife walked into my office when I was catching up on the lounge, and your picture was on the screen. The thing she noticed immediately was your shoes! I showed her a couple more of your posts. She said she was impressed, and that they look very high-end. She doesn't make comments like that unless she's sincere - especially about shoes. :)
