Out on the Harley Springer and down at the Fremantle harbourside. day to warm up on the way home to 31C.
Jacket of the day is a Suede trucker , by Australian maker "Frantik" ( no longer in business).
Not as warm as any zip up leather jacket by default , hence it's motorcycle use today.

From where I stand in confinement, this looks surreal and makes me envious. Enjoy the freedom.

Yes mine will be without epaulets that’s a must for this jacket I don’t like epaulets, still tossing up between what leather to go with though , my short list is Battered Steer, Dark Seal Vicenza and Tobacco Badalassi, I’ve either owned or tried on A2 jackets in all 3 leathers now so probably leaning towards the Vicenza at the moment, not sure about knits and stitch colour though think I want want something that contrasts, linings are another thing I have it in my head I want a red satin lining which may look better with the blacked brown Vicenza, I’m hoping Carrie can offer some guidance/advice on my final decision.

I nearly ordered one in seal goat with a satin lining but I ended up finding a goat Gibson and Barnes flight jacket for no money which temporarily scratched the itch - as they say.

how do you avoid indigo rub off staining the inside of the cuff or around the hem? going to be relevant for me soon I dare to get a very raw unprotected vegtan cowhide as jacket, I already bought saddle soap and waterproofing wax in preparation probably going to carry them around inside the pockets the first few months until the nerve relaxes...

That is a fair question. The short (but accurate) answer would be: I don’t. At least not deliberately. I just don’t mind some staining.
To be precise: This is not about being sloppy. I would and do change a shirt if and when I soil it with icecream, pastasauce, the works. As for permanent stains in a leather jacket - I view them as the patina of real life. Just like a scar from an accident or a wrinkle in my face that will not go away any more.

Your question made me look, though. The leather does indeed show very minor spots of blue that may well be indigo-rub. I would not have noticed in normal circumstances. I often wear my shirt untucked (sorry, guys...) or layer with a sweater, so I suppose these layers serve as a kind of „protective shield“.

Thanks for asking! It once again reminded me that although we share the same passion, we do so in different shape and forms. And nobody is more right than the other...

@Tom71 if you rub the entire jacket down with a damp rag (water) and let it dry, will prevent individual rain drops from "staining" the jacket as this will effectively stain the entire jacket one time..just rub it down evenly

Oh, I know, Boyo. Thanks for that. It’s just - I just can’t be bothered. Let nature take its course. With the years, it will look just right...

I posted this in another thread but more traffic here. For those interested in what Vanson X150 starts to look like when you wear the hell out of it in any weather for a few months. It was VERY smooth, waxy, shiny, and stiff. Its now not really any those things. Grain is coming through, black is muted, jacket is very flexible, but still feels very much like Vanson armor. Its a totally different jacket, and I absolutely dig it!

O yeah, I'm for the most part ready for the "cool" staining water spot, dirt, scratches, sun tan, all good. ( just color transfer from dye that worries me)
thanks a lot for sharing your view and experience

Thanks, I kind of forgot they offer steer also in Cordovan.

Really liking that rich and grainy look of the hide. May I ask, how much have you used it for that look?

Finally had a little sunshine this morning, after days of clouds & Covid-19 WFH. Thankful to be well, but staying out of the public sphere for now.

Aero HWM in CXL Steerhide still along way from broken in:

Keeping the perspective on being thankful, not focused so much upon what's not in my life. We'll get through this time.
