When researching what jackets to buy, it's always easy to find recommendations for the kitchen at well known brands - Schott, Aero, Vanson, etc.
However, there are lots of makers out there that also produce quality goods that just don't get the same publicity. You might even be able to get a great jacket at a lower price by focusing on these secondary brands. So I think it's time we give these makers some love!
I'll start with my recommendation:

This Italian company is most associated with purses as they worked closely with Grace Kelly for purses last century; however, they make great leather jackets primarily from goat skin.
All of their jackets are made exclusively from Italian leathers and workshops in Florence. Their jackets are strong and lightweight and trend toward "stylish Italian."
I wouldn't call them a discount brand - all of their jackets are on their website are around $1000 USD. However, my experience is that they have a better selection - and discounts - at their store front in Florence. However, since they're less well known, you can frequently find great deals second hand.
