What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

This week, for the first time since 2022, I worked a five day work week. It's just 4-5 hours a day, but this time last year I struggled just to take a 20 minute walk 3 days a week, so this improvement is a blessing.

I am enjoying the morning off under the brim of a Knox Superfine homburg.

Today, I am wearing a Stetson Standard Quality Bowler made for Copley Plaza Haberdasher located at 16 Huntington Avenue in Boston, MA. If my liner research is correct, this hat should be from the 1930s but please feel free to correct me if I am wrong or if you have a narrower date range.

We are putting our house on the market soon and to that end much has been packed away including clothing and hats. For church this morning my black susquehana will top out a collar and tie.

Yesterday we had glorious sunshine so I suggested to Tina that we dine out for Sunday lunch. There's a beachside restaurant where the diners wear mostly Aloha shirts, that's where I am taking her. As most of my hats are packed away, the black one will be on duty once more, along with the trousers and shoes.

Yesterday's sunshine seems to have aluded us today, but the table is booked,
so fingers crossed for the sun to put in an appearance later on.

A pleasant day, wearing a new to me very light feeling, black felt from Mossant Vallon & Argos (Argod), the French hatmaker, imported by Gano Downs, the over one century spanning department store in downtown Denver. This was an interesting one as it has no leather sweatband and a fabric covering that extended from the liner to the tip of the brim. I removed the part that covered the brim, as it was torn up) and trimmed it down to the edge of the interior of the crown. The hat cleaned up nicely and with no leather, makes a great lightweight summer felt.

Very cool, Jeff. It was likely made as a hat for formal wear like the opera. I have one that was done the same way.

Make sure the hats are safe, Robert. Looking good with the black hat again.

The Penney's Marathon, but how difficult was it choosing?
The style and colour, according to Tina, would be perfect
with the new trousers that the lady has made for me. Is she right?
