What Hat Are You Wearing Today ?

40s Adam DeLuxe Quality in my faved color.
Size 7 1/8 so I’ll be taking it apart for a reblock, since I plan to keep it forever. It’ll replace a Champ I’ve had for years in the exact style, but with a 2 5/8” brim. This Adam will end up with what it has now at 2 7/8” and a taller crown. She’s worth the trouble.
I have had a steady buyer/friend for 3 or 4 years who is helping me cull redundant hats that are a bit tight for me.
It’s great having allota nice hats, but better still when they also fit comfortably. View attachment 719150 View attachment 719151 View attachment 719154
The departing Champ:
A stunner!

This old Canadian Master Biltmore needed a little spiffing up today.. it was speaking to me and asking for this new brim shape.

Got some clarity on modern Barbisio hats as well in talking with the Jewish hat sellers who agreed to speak with me

They are currently really confusing. A modern hat could be made in either Italy, Hungry or Columbia (not 100% sure if those are still bring made). The original Barbisio company went out of business in the late 80's and the name was sold or licensed off. You can buy a Barbiso made in Italy by the Cervo factory (all of those ones are pretty modern and not really Jewish looking - hence the ones most are looking for.) The ones that are sold in most Jewish stores in NY/NJ and in Israel are usually bent "up hats" (a specific type of Jewish hat) made in Hungry at the Sunemar Hat Factory. Lastly, the fedoras that were sold over the years in Bencraft Hatters, in Brooklyn (@besdor 's store), are made in Columbia by the factory that also makes Puerto Fino. This brand is really all over the place.

A pleasant day, wearing a new to me very light feeling, black felt from Mossant Vallon & Argos (Argod), the French hatmaker, imported by Gano Downs, the over one century spanning department store in downtown Denver. This was an interesting one as it has no leather sweatband and a fabric covering that extended from the liner to the tip of the brim. I removed the part that covered the brim, as it was torn up) and trimmed it down to the edge of the interior of the crown. The hat cleaned up nicely and with no leather, makes a great lightweight summer felt.
