A pleasant day, wearing a new to me very light feeling, black felt from Mossant Vallon & Argos, the French hatmaker, imported by Gano Downs, the over one century spanning department store in downtown Denver. This was an interesting one as it has no leather sweatband and a fabric covering that extended from the liner to the tip of the brim. I removed the part that covered the brim and trimmed it down to the edge of the interior of the crown. The hat cleaned up nicely and with no leather, make a great lightweight summer felt.

Hey, hat hounds!
Here is probably my favorite straw, 1950s Borsalino Milan. Not as wide brimmed as some, but hands-down the finest execution of a Milan in my stable.

I can certainly understand your affection for it, Charlie. That is one MAGNIFICENTLY crafted hat, sir!

Meanwhile in the other hemisphere winter is bitting hard so time to go full Aussie. Now where did I leave my horse?

Akubra Coober Pedy, oilskin, hand knitted cable jumper but the raw wool is across ditch from NZ as they tend to have courser wools better suited to this style. The RM Williams are from the last millennium.

This week, for the first time since 2022, I worked a five day work week. It's just 4-5 hours a day, but this time last year I struggled just to take a 20 minute walk 3 days a week, so this improvement is a blessing.

I am enjoying the morning off under the brim of a Knox Superfine homburg.

It has been a really tough time for you for the past few years(?). It’s great that you can finally see some light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, Covid kicked my ****. The actually infection wasn't so bad, but it turned into long-COVID.

In August it will be three years and I still spend a large part of my day managing symptoms (yoga, pranayama, meditation, diet and supplements, doctors, continued education etc.).

Thanks for the encouragement Gary.
