*******-esque Stetson 3X Suede Finish with felted band. Very soft hand and a rich chocolate brown.

Those are raindrops on the brim.

Once again here in sunny west central Florida the day called for a vintage straw after a day off in felt. This one is a vintage Penny's Marathon stingy brim made from Milan straw. The hatband, melding into and becoming the ribbon treatment is a fun twist.

I swear, you look like you should be managing a wrestling tag team!

You would have to work your way through *******s on Parade to make sure, but if there are RD *******s, they are rare. *******s with a wind trolley are few and far between, as well, so maybe there is a case to be made that feature shows it is a RD.

Here's an example from Vic. However, given it's provenance, it may be a one-off (and no wind trolley).

This morning I'm going with my latest "mutt" that I got very reasonably priced. Someone had replaced the sweatband and also installed a Royal DeLuxe liner, which is a no-no for a *******. * far as I know, they only came in the Royal model, but I could be mistaken.
The sweatband is pretty nice so I left it be, but I just had to swap out the DeLuxe liner for a Royal one more appropriate. I had the ******* stamp from another old sweatband and I attached it to the new sweatband. All in all I'm pleased with the outcome. I really dig the deep rich brown color of this hat too ! Hope y'all have a good 'un ! View attachment 707294 View attachment 707295 View attachment 707296 View attachment 707297
Very nice! Do you have photos of the hat with the RSD liner? ******* was a very popular model for Stetson from its mid 1930s introduction through the post-war years. They claim it was the most popular style in advertising c. 1940. I'd be surprised if it didn't make its way to the RSD price point somewhere along the line.

Thank you Mark. Do you like vintage cars? Tina & I are off to The Nostalgia Festival later. https://www.vintagenostalgiafestival.co.uk/

The festival is about thirty-five miles away, so not too far for my MG.
Fingers crossed for fine weather all weekend.
You (and the MG) both look fabulous, Robert. I hope you and Tina have a WONDERFUL time at TNF.

I do indeed love vintage cars. I even owned a '35 Ford 5 window coupe for a time back in the 80s, but there were so many things that needed fixing, I could never get financially ahead of the curve, and finally parted with it. Come to think of it, I also had a '65 MGB for a while after college. THAT ran like a champ, but it eventually went away to enable one of many motorcycle purchases over the years.

I'm not actually wearing this, because it is far too small for my head, but I wanted to share a hat that a friend recently gifted me:

A bankaru sold through Salvatore Balbi in Naples, with a dealer-specific lining. A little dented in places, but not mangled. The Balbi store is now a pizzeria, and I've been unable to glean much info about the shop, such as years of operation.

I have no real way to date this, but that doesn't lessen my happiness in adding it to the {display only} stable. :)

Here's a picture with the RD liner as it arrived laying loosely in the hat. I looked through all 33 pages of " *******s on Parade " thread here & only saw one other with an RD liner. That hat was posted by Carouselvic & it sure looked like a ******* but I could not see it labeled as such in the provided pictures, which I have also attached here.

MORE rain and thunder this morning... ARRRGH! Akubra time! This ones a Coolabah with a bit of brim trimming. The Guinea feather came from a friend who raises them Nice soft hat. Re-used the leather and feather band off of a cheap Stetson wool hat. I think it matches nicely. The nice folks at David Morgan even gave me an old Akubra pin to replace the Stetson hatpin

Thanks for sharing. You may be right about the ******* not rising (in price point) above the Royal level until the ******* II update. There were many other models to go with if you wanted to upscale. Bumped this thread from the way back:
