I can only assume it's down to a lack of understanding / communication between Magnoli and his supplier. Also when one gives measurements (such as the measurement of an existing garments crutch ) the measurements are generally from a standard modern fit, item. No allowance or thought is then given by the tailor to translating these measurements into a high waisted version.

Indy, as I see you're monitoring here, and as we are keen to support your business, can you comment on the high-waist issue? While I am happy with my two suits, I too would prefer a higher waist. I have in fact held off on ordering "Hollywood" pants for this very concern, as other than the lower belt loops, what makes Hollywood trousers "Hollywood" style is primarily the higher waist. Not much to distinguish them from standard modern dress pants otherwise!

Just MNSHO? He has short guys doing his tailoring. They live in a country full of short guys. They've only ever measured short guys. 11 inches IS a long rise to them.
As for lack of communication? Today only the high-end tailors really interact with their clients. It's become a premium service. Unless you're paying $2,000 for a suit, the most communication you're going to get is why they a) can't, b) shouldn't, or c) you really don't want them to deviate from conventional style, detail, and fit.
N.B.: I've only had experience with low-to-middle market tailors. As far as the high-end business, I'm going by what I'm told.
