Last call for Mr Moose...

Got some more stains out of the "Moose" Resistol ( I won the auction for this hat the last day Mr Moose was with us so its special to me). I finished his box this morning so hes now resting together with his last frisbee, his collar, and the clay paw print. Ready to join my older Black Lab Lucy up on the shelf for guard duty . Toasting both my best buddies with a stiff rum and coke. Fair winds Mr Moose!

Busy day here in East Texas. Dragged myself out of bed about 5am and made it to the gym. Then headed over to the Moosehead Cafe for coffee and a round of solving the worlds problems. Got a couple local coffee co-conspirators fitted for a couple leather belts they ordered. Got home and have the belts cut to length, the belt holes located, the center fishtail stitching done, and the liners glued on. Basically down to the edge stitching and finishing.

Then I got busy with a mid 1920s tenor banjo. got the old broken tuners replaced and strung up for the first time in who knows how long late last night. Happy to see it more or less stayed in tune overnight. with the original skin head it really has a nice mellow tone. Going to be great for Irish Traditional. Kind of halfway remembered how to play a couple hornpipes so it actually makes some banjo like sounds.

Eagerly awaiting the UPS guy to arrive today with a Hemp Open Road .....

Decided that was about enough for one day... fired up an old Peterson pipe (marked as made it Eire for its prob pre 1947), Threw on the new to me brown Beaver Open Road, and whipped up a bit Kentucky Sunrise (Bourbon, grenadine marachino cherries and Orange juice. Good day

Yesterday I set off some bug bombs in the house to try and control some ants and spyders... Had to stay out of the house for a while so I headed over to one of the not so nearby liquor stores on a tequila hunt. Not much of a selection here in my neck of the woods, but I did find some Lalo ( grandson of the Don Julio founder). Ill have to admit its way better than Cuervo, Sauza of any of the other tequila like liquids on the lower shelves, but Im thinking Im just not a straight tequila guy..... It does make a heck of a ****** Rita though! The Hemp Open Road seemed like a good fit

^^^ I like your drink table. I hauled a big one home once but it wasn’t cut straight & level, & I never bothered to recut it.
Ill bet I trimmed then end of that log 4-5 times before I got a clean level cut lol. Put three nail-on furniture feet on the bottom so it doesnt wobble. its a perfect size and height for me. Been thinking of putting a couple timber screw across the crack so it doesnt get worse.

I have some structural steel angle pcs in lots of sizes around here. I never thought about leveling it up with a base.

If you can borrow or rent a strapping tool put some steel banding around the outside to draw it together, instead of screws. Make it look like barrel staves.

Spent the weekend on board Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas (our first ever cruise) And we certainly made good use of the drink package and wasted no time grabbing some kinda concoctions at the Rising Tide floating bar.

One evening a friend asked us to meet her at Giovani’s Italian for Espresso Martinis. The beautiful wall of herbs background inspired me to attempt some Gary @The Shoe style drink photos.

In a nod to Captain Rob, I could not leave this Italian bar without giving the Negroni a try. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Kind of an Italian Old Fashioned a bit more spicy with the gin.

And another at dinner

These were Just a sampling of the drinks that made it on camera along with lots of other fun along the way…. Including if memory serves, pina colada, Miami Vice, Lime and Coconut…. And one I enjoyed very much Caribbean Mule.

Hat space was limited for me on the journey… but these drinks were paired with two rollable Borsalino one brown, one white and the white Royal Scott.

Cheers

Whippet and Tequila this afternoon! Finally found some Tequila Ocho Reposado without driving 100 miles... Rather tasty sipping straight. Time to refill the molds for the big round ice cubes...fortunately I had two left in the freezer. I very may well need to add straight sipping to the weekly agenda and forget the margarita mix
