It was a big deal to install it in the room, B! After they finished with this one, they told me the next one I order they can assemble inside the room. Why didn't they tell me that before? [emoji34]Sin palabras!!
Sí, verdad?YOWZA! Impresionante!
The way your collection is growing it's going to be too small again soon! Very nice solution to have them sitting on shelves though. I have a book case that would be perfect for that, but the books refused to go!My new hat safe came in today. It has a 112 hat capacity. The smaller one can fit 66.

I might do that if I ever buy this house. It's a rental. Owning a house isn't a good investment, and it ties you down. Much better to invest in commercial properties.Clearly the next logical progression is to get a property survey to determine where the next wing of the house will be built. The Doc Max Hat Annex and Museum. Either that or an underground bunker.
I also put them in a plastic bag with tags in alphabetic order. The way your collection is growing it's going to be too small again soon! Very nice solution to have them sitting on shelves though. I have a book case that would be perfect for that, but the books refused to go!
I do put them in plastic bags, but they are all over the place. The only system is that they are roughly arranged by country of origin. English hats in one place, German hats in another stack and so forth. Haven't given moths much thought to be honest, thinking they don't thrive well in our climate. While that is true, they apparently survive in (warmed) houses feeding on clothes.I also put them in a plastic bag with tags in alphabetic order.
That way I don't have to worry about insects or dust, or finding the one I want.
Just last night I was in a panic because I couldn't remember where I put my 100s while I am rearranging everything.
By the way, even though I can sometimes see moths in Mexico City, Ignacio says that they don't damage the hats here. Not sure if that's true, so better safe than sorry, but I have seen three very old Disneys and Stetsons that were originally sold in Mexico City department stores in the forties, and they don't have a single nibble.
Weird, huh?

New batch of custom band blocks. This time I asked for a little more taper.
Also, pictures of my plaster head mould, and how I made it...
It is, of course, more accurate than the wooden blocks, but pain to make.![]()

No. He just drew a line around the conformer with a pencil, top and bottom. Is Ignacio making the band blocks for you? It would be nice to have one for every hat. ....hmmm.

I gave the "drawing" (I know there's a word for that in English, but I can't remember it. Help?) to my carpenters, and they make them exactly with that.
Each one costs me $10.71 [emoji3526]
So far, they've made 105 of them. Another 35 are due next week.
