Today’s outfit is all about the hat. It is a custom made soft medium weight 100% beaver felt that explains why beaver is so well regarded as a felt. With the craftsman we had some pretty demanding specifications on the felt, its colours and ribbons so around six months of searching for everything by Tibor before he started crafting it.

It is made with proportions to suit my frame and I could not be happier with the final hat and its fit. Fantastic to still be able to commission hats.

That is an OUTSTANDING hat, and it completes a magnificent ensemble.

Thank you @VoodooSan

It worked out exactly as hoped. The colour being expresso brown was intended in the evening to look black and in daylight brown.

As usual no idea is new and bit of research revealed Churchill used the same trick so he could look relaxed during the day but if caught in a formal evening event he did not need to swap hats.

Tibor nailed the fit so my most comfortable hat plus he catered for my build tweaking the proportions with the taller crown balanced by wider brim. Could not be happier

My errand run #2 of the day was under the new Adam Lonestar...... Was walking down the aisle at WalMart when I heard a boisterous "Hoo Wee! Let me see that Hat!!! I really like that one"" from a gentleman who had to be in his mid to late 80s. I took it off and let him look at it and considering he rattled off " Adam... the first name in hats", he actually was familiar with Adam hats! The two ladies with him Ohh'd and Ahhhh'd over it too

I get regular nice complements about hats when out and about, but this is the first time someone was genuinely excited to see one!

Did my heart good!

That is ALWAYS such a great feeling. Hell, even the casual compliment in passing gives me a thrill.

One of my favorite straight crown Stetsons. Its been around long enough to lose its liner and and every tag except the size tag, so Im not really sure what it one was. (Its brown and its a Royal... thats all Ive got lol) Love the taller straight crown, wide ribbon, and the wide brim binding. Fun old hat that does'nt require too much pampering. Im really fond of older well traveled hats

I'm with you Rick. Love the look of the taller crowns with the wide ribbons. Really captures the style of "the greatest generation". One of your best!

I recently received the Peters Bros. Shady Pines shown below. I re-bashed it to an OR style (what's the sense in owning a "The Texas Hat" if it will look like every other hat?). The felt is smooth but thin. I had to repair a small hole in the brim, mostly seen on the bottom side, but the hole tapered up to the topside and the repair is not seen looking down at the crown and brim. Easily wearable. Nice to add to the collection and great to wear as a summer felt.

Good day, my fellow hat nerds. I will be going live at 11am EST for today's installment of Hat Chat while wearing my Mallory Fifth Avenue with a Parachutist Badge (Jump Wings). I also drop in a huge shout-out to @The Lost Cowboy and @rogueclimber for making me love this hat even more once I learned about the significance of this pin. Please feel free to pop in and let's talk about anything hat-related.
