Swedish military boots from 1942 I wore today.

I dyed them black, conditioned them inside and outside (bone dry after 80 years in storage), built up the heel with some more leather (balancing due to added sole) and applied a Vibram full sole but only used it as a half sole. A rubber toplift to finish it off.

First day with Argo engineers. Gambled on the sizing and got pretty lucky.

They are in a nice hand dyed mahogony horsebutt from Maryam. I really like the Maryam hb on my bounty hunters so I knew I'd be in good hands. Construction seems good, a substantial color matched flat gyw that looks much better than the cheap welts a lot of makers slap on.

It's still a struggle for me to get used to engineers, I'm used to that snug feeling from laced boots.

I normally like to wear a simple classic shoe. My favorite two are the Allen Edmonds McNeil and Norwich in both brown and black. My old school favorites have always been wingtips! Some of this shoes look great after being used for over 30 years and that is due to the use of shoe trees and good conditioner. If I visit my friends at a nicer occasion I call for a clean a-2 and nicer wing type not picture here. View attachment 92205

You have a point there. I was putting them at my house foyer for the image. My goal is to rebuild my small closet to maximize the available space. When I am done with the jacket holders, I will share how I address the boot storage. The

Nice. These look wide. Foot shaped?
Jim Green's standard JG last isn't exactly foot shaped, they just have a wide toe box.
The rest of the boot is shaped in a way that allows you to have that wide toe box without looking clownish.

Basically what they do is curve in less drastically at the inside of your foot so the width of the toe box doesn't stand out so much .

Nice outfit. Quality in that belt is out of this world. Can you please share the maker?

Thanks for the kind words!

The belt is by my favorite belt maker, Isaac of Pigeon Tree Crafting... Well technically he IS Pigeon Tree Crafting because it's a one man show. While I have other great belts too, his are my favorites.

Just found this blogpost today "European workwear boot brands" from end of 2024:
Wow, so many brands I've never heard of! Seems like we have more options in Europe than I thought!

This ad inspired me to get on my kilties soap box even though no one asked.

Yet another reason they are dumb is because the facings are not sized for them and end up with a ridiculous bulge like this around the calf.

If you like the aesthetics, cool, but let's not pretend 99.999% of us need the 'protection' when we already have laces, facings, and a tongue in that area.
