Would you ONLY wear boots?

I only wear shoes if I'm wearing shorts, the rest of the time it's boots for me.

I threw out my last pair of shorts over thirty years ago and haven't looked back. I do however often wear a kilt for formal occasions, and sometimes in the Summer hellheat of July and August. I've worn boots with a kilt casually, though never engineer boots, which I think would look odd with it.

I only wear boots. I find them more comfortable than sneakers or dress shoes, plus I love engineers and how easy they are to put on and take off for me. Makes it an easy decision.

I prefer rather short boots which cover the ankle bone and extend upwards a bit. It's my experience that the lighter one's footwear, the easier one has walking any distance. Some hikers say that an "Ounce on the foot is like a Pound in the pack". I concur.

I have military and civilian boots of all possible configurations, from Desert to Arctic types.

Most commonly worn boots are (slightly proud of ankle) leather/goretex winter boots, along with added Gaiters for snow shoveling deep snow. Deep treads.

Generally, wear a set of simple short boots using elastic to secure them. Cheap and does the job. A more expensive pair of strapped "Jhodpur" boots might be a possibility.

Boots "wear-out" due to soles being worn-down, and hopefully one can find a decent cobbler to repair them.

Upper leather can also wear out. Often cheap leather develops cracks, no matter how well maintained.

Suggest viewing Rose Anvil channel on YouTube for some highly useful comments.

I wear whatever footwear suits the situation best, anything from flip flops to engineers and everything in between; boat shoes, camp mocs, espadrilles, beefroll penny loafers, plain toe bluchers, long wing bluchers, wing tips, spectators, dress boots, chukkas, heritage boots, PNW boots, engineers, etc.

Sneakers for sports.

Bought these White’s 350 Cutter second hand in 8D - my UK size 9 feet fit into these very well - in thick Thorlo socks! First time I’ve tried 55 last and it’s just a tad too roomy for me even in D width.

I’d much prefer my original Smokejumpers in 8.5D - the 4811 last just fits my feet so well.

I love the roughout. I wiped clean the inside with antibacterial spray, then clean water, then leather grease - then wear them at home for half a day to let the heat (and sweat) help the grease to soak into the leather.

i got excess pairs i prefer the enginers look and ease of ropers. Sneakers are still a good go to when i dont want to feel like i am wearing something so heavy. Solomons XT are great for quick release lacing, also the feel and traction for a high arch narrow feet.

I live in a city where 80f (28c) or more is common for the better half of the year, and even so I exclusively use boots. I've found that using Merino wool socks makes quite the difference

That said, my Horween waxed flesh pairs do indeed run hotter to the point that days with a weather of 32c or more, the moisture just doesn't wick away easily. I'd guess this applies too to waterproof/goretex lined boots

I only wear boots, its my engineer boots and harness boots parked in my room that I can quickly change into, if I want to wear my other footwear then I have to go grab it from my shoerack.

I’ve a pair of White’s smoke jumpers for the occasional weekend stroll in local woods. I don’t wear these in a car as can’t feel the pedals in them.

Otherwise I’m a ‘shoes guy’ - Church’s, Trickers, Paul Smith, Dr Martens, Solovair etc - I typically pair suede/roughout brogues with colored chinos for work attire, with a blazer jacket or leather jacket for dress down Fridays.

In my work office there are a few guys who are ********* boots wearers - typically brogue or double capped dress boots (Trickers or similar). These guys wear boots 365 even during hot summer days (what’s wrong with them?!).

So this prompted me to ask you distinguished gentlemanly forum fellows - any of you are the same? And if so why??

I am thinking of getting a pair of Whites 350 boots into my office wardrobe though.

Just curious what jacket and shoes you're wearing here?

Only wear boots? Heavens, at least wear a long trench coat then. But what happens when you have to take it off at the coat check? Uh oh.;)

Late to the party, but I am strong in believing the variety of footwear. How can I show off my $40 socks if I only have boots?

Physics is what it is. An old saying on backpacking forums is that "An Ounce on the foot is worth a Pound in the pack".

This means that heavy weight boots are more tiring to wear than lighter footwear. simple physics, and undeniable.

Most of us have personal choices concerning our footgear. For me, it's all about fit/quality/durability/price in that order.

I have come to prefer Chelsea style boots for common street wear. Jodhpur boots also in consideration. YMMV.

I don’t think I could wear only boots, where I live it gets really hot for long periods of time, but also I want to rotate through different styles and shoes.

I have a lot of engineer boots but as I age my back and hips are really starting to disagree with the big heel and lack of cushion. I bought a pair of Paraboot Michaels they are a chunky shoe that is much more comfy but still looks good with similar style pants

I wear lace up work and combat boots most of the time. My absolute favorite and comfortable boots are the USMC Danner RAT boots. When the temp gets into the 90's, i wear MOAB Ventilators from Merril.
