What Jacket Are You Wearing Today?

Nice long ride today to the western burbs to check out bikes for the girlfriend in my trusty modern Cal LAPD. It was a beautiful day but chilled down a bit on the way back. The Cal was a good choice. The collar helps with a nice seal to the helmet, the belt cinches it down at the waist, and the liner even though soft and smooth is pretty damn warm.

For me it seems to be the hide, steer and Cape are very creaky whereas horse seems to be silent, at least it is in my stable.
Not true for me. My new LW Ryder in horsehide squeaks something fierce. I think this will quiet down as it breaks in though. If I recall correctly my LW CHP was also quite squeaky when new and now it’s almost silent.

Nobody to take photos of me wearing any of my jackets anymore. Nobody to say "That one's even worse than the last one!". Nobody whose perpetually negative comments I couldn't wait to hear whenever I bought any new piece of wardrobe. Never a good jacket in 5 five years and I loved every second of it.

Damn you, life. Why give you'll just take it away?

Two that you actually kinda liked... Levi's and Hein Gericke. Not today but who cares.
Sorry to hear that Ivan. Women...

This jacket may be "old" but I call it "perfect." As in Perfectly broken in, perfect fit, perfectly comfortable. Really amazing grain & patina there! Enjoy and keep wearing it as much as you can. :)

Thanks man. I really love wearing it and it's fun to see the jacket evolving. Even with a new Aero incoming I will continue to wear this one a lot :)

One of my all time favorite cafe racers is the vintage Harley Horsehide “One-Pocket” Sportster. The horsehide on these Sportsters is simply amazing- the kind of horsehide Shinki wishes it could be. The weight and heft of the hide hits that ideal sweet spot- supple yet substantial enough for anything the San Francisco weather throws at me.
Simple, minimal, distinctive— the no frills Buco/Board Racer style back, the Conmar diamond zip and Conmar main zip…and a fit that just feels right every time I put it on. Board Racers are fine too…but I always reach for my Sportster because it’s the real deal. Maybe that’s why I have five of them hanging in the closet now. Sigh... I’ve really got to let a couple of them go…

Amazing. Now I regret not purchasing the one that recently sold on Ebay.
