Am I the only one who thinks Akubra might be aiming at a certain market by calling a Hemp Milan the "Reef"?

You're 100% right. This brim is way too big. It's almost 4 inches. I got the hat for free from a friend and love the felt, but the brim is way too big for me. I am looking for a place to have the brim trimmed to about 2.25 inches and rebound. However, I am not sure where to go since this hat has a unique binding on the brim (maybe a Cavanagh edge? -- I don't really know brim style lingo), and I would like the retain this brim treatment. I'm not sure I can go to a regular hatter here in Houston to get the right edge on a trimmed brim. Maybe you Loungers have some suggestions?

Eliesti--try Gary Cohen at the Hat Store, Richmond at Chimney Rock. I'm not sure whether he can match the brim treatment, but he's probably your best bet in Houston.

I believe it would take reblocking to remove that taper.The question then is if the crown is as tall as you want.

How about lenthening/hightening the crown to pull the brim in?
That might make sense if you like the felt and the edge treatment. Maybe a pro could do that and replace the ribbon and sweat for you?

It wouldn't go under a 2 1/2" Brim , but its not a Cavanagh , its a Borsalino . The Cavanagh Brim Treatment is something different , I believe (no expert , but ...) .

If anyone's looking for a Hemp Stetson OR , ONE2miniRanch has them in stock , @Monavillecowboy (Mike) said they had some in , I checked , they're there .

It's definitely not tall enough to do much with. But, it's still a great hat. Best felt of any hat I've ever owned. Biltmore makes a damn fine hat, even when they're tapered.
