Hello, All — Long time lurker, first time poster, and I need your help.
I’ve got an Akubra Traveller (Regency Fawn) that’s my exclusive travel/adventure hat. On my last trip I nearly lost it in an open‑air truck, and with an upcoming trip to Africa I’d really like to prevent that from happening again.
I know Akubra offers the wire clips, and I’m not ruling them out, but I’m not sure they’re the best match for the Traveller’s fabric sweatband and fine stitching. I’m mainly hoping to hear about other ways people have attached a wind strap or secured a felt hat in similar situations.
I posted it in its own thread in the Akubra section, but I’m adding it here in case anyone who has attached a strap to any felt hat might see it.
I’d really appreciate hearing what has worked for you:
- sewn‑in loops
- discreet internal anchors
- cord‑through‑brim setups
- crown‑wrap or behind‑the‑head systems
- or even experiences with the Akubra clips if you’ve used them successfully
Many Thanks in Advance,
Jon Erik
