Yeah, I’ve had a Cossack before. Honestly, it’s one of those jackets that doesn’t scream for attention but still looks cool without much effort. For leather, I’d lean toward something mid-weight. Horsehide or a good steerhide both work well, just depends if you want a little more shine and structure (horse) or a softer, broken-in vibe (steer). This style used to befuddle me but something’s changed and now the design aspects that were off putting are now appealing and I’m curious about picking one up.
Have you had a Cossack and have insight about a leather preference or style or use case suggestions?
Not owning a motocycle I sometimes feel like an imposter wearing these biker jackets.Within the microcosm of TFL they get a lot of love for their uniqueness coupled with vintage authenticity and a style that is flattering to a lot of body types.
For the average punter who sees you wearing it: it doesn’t scream old timey cosplay, you also won’t be mistaken for a middle aged single dad with insecurity issues pretending to be a biker, the buttons and collar distinguish it from the run-of-the-mill mall brand bomber jackets without being too ‘look at me’.
So definitely a lot going for them!
I run into way too many people wearing crosszips to feeling like an impostor when wearing oneNot owning a motocycle I sometimes feel like an imposter wearing these biker jackets.
I like the look quite a bit, but I think they look best cut short - like the Mr. Freedom Campus Jacket. Many that I see are too long IMO.

I think buttons need a soft leather, a thinner hide or to be a very large size to be feasible. The thedi cossack is what brought me here in the first place. I quickly learned i do not like buttoning leather or pockets that are completely useless.
