Fletch said:L.L. Bean has made the Maine Hunting Shoe since 1912. I've owned my pair for as long as dalexs has had his Sorels = 25 years. Nicely comfortable, steel shanked (nowadays - mine aren't), great for keeping the wet out and for layering socks underneath. But I wouldn't hike or do anything strenuous in them beyond tromping around casually in thewhitestuff.
