Dietz closed in the summer of 2003. I wonder what happened to the inventory the daughter took out when she closed the store. "...She called me at home at the end of July and said, "Oscar, I'm closing the store today,'" Pierce recalls. "That was the first I'd heard anything about it. There was no warning at all. That same day, she came down and emptied the store out. Took the entire inventory. Everything. So, I had to start all over from scratch. When I first walked into this store I had only one hat -- and I was wearing it. ..."

I'm back in Amiens to-day, wearing my VS thin-ribbon. Behind me is "The Belfry":

and here I am in front of the world's largest gothic cathedral:

back in the olden days (10th century) the entire cathedral would have been painted in lots of vivid colors.

Today we went to Barcelona zoo - I took my brown Penney's Marathon, and a camera too... Maybe some sightseeing pics will be a good idea, for a change.

This is the Arch of Triumph, which is nearby. It was built at the time of the World Fair, in 1888, where it acted as the Main Gate. http://www.aviewoncities.com/barcelona/arcdetriomf.htm

At the other end of the same avenue, the entrance to the Parc de la Ciutadella. This is on the same grounds where a military citadel once existed, hence its name.

Inside this park the zoo is located. Here I am at the lions's place... well, safely outside .
