Many thanks for everyone's kind comments. They are very much appreciated, and once again I am humbled.


Perry: Glad to have you along! Admittedly a little biased, but this production was one of the best we have seen in recent memory. The dedication and hard work from cast, crew and their teachers was rewarded with an intensely enjoyable and memorable week of performances.


BR: Absolutely. An incredible two months for parents and kids.


Jeff: You are much, much too kind! I am satisfied with the photos, given that I only had the one crack at taking them on the evening of the family preview show. Not knowing in advance just how the stage craft and choreography would transpire, I keep thinking I could have taken yet better photos if I had a second crack at it.


Ale: It is gratifying to know that you enjoyed the photos. I somehow feel as if my friends here were at the show with us...


Eric: Indeed it was a huge success for the kids by all accounts. Second highest box office receipt for the school of all time, second only to 'The Wizard Of Oz '. Probably would have broken that record had it not been for the fact that our local professional theater staged their Winter musical production of 'Dirty Rotten Scoundrels ' concurrently!

Alan: Really appreciate your expert appraisal! The two story set was completely designed in-house and built by the amazing crew from scratch. Most of the costumes came from the archives of the theater department down in the basement of the school, and were vintage, and some kids borrowed outfits from family members. The leads had their costumes rented for them from a theater costume rental company out of Minneapolis. Ryan appropriated a few of my ties and pocket squares for embellishement. The kids enjoyed the moment...and each other, far beyond expectations.

Pouring rain, temps in the 50's, when I headed out this morning. My Stetson Whippet in "straw" worked like a charm. The water came off the hat like it does on the shingles on our roofs. Pic taken on the porch when I got home.

This afternoon I am off and about in my VS.

Thanks Manfred. The Stetson Whippet is a last year purchase from the Stetson Outlet store in TX. It is great protection, but gets to be hot, in my opinion, in Minnesota, USA's above 75' F temps.

Have you had any success in getting the straw to soften up? Or should I even be trying?

The "Straw" is covered with a "plastic coating." "Soften" would require the plastic coated fibers to have micro cracks and I am sure that could happen. Micro cracks easily go to bigger cracks and then material failure. I would be hesitant to "soften" this hat. IMO, this hat is at it's best in weather that a panama straw would suffer (heat, sweating, and rain).

Jason, the above is my opinion. This is my second such Whippet. The first I developed a crack across the front brim by snapping the brim too many times. I have learned to be carefull.
