Nazarin : Welcome. I think your hat has tremendous character. The brim and crown seem to just mold together. The color is also nice. That is a great hat all around. Next hat suggestion: Duplicate that hat but in fur. Nice hat!


TheGood: If you decide to work on that brim to fix small imperfect cuts, try a fine grit sandpaper. I cut my Akubra Squatter and it looks great. It is easier to cut a brim than some think.

Bluegrass Green Campdraft. Only reason I'm posting this is that I've recreased it. Gave it a bit more rake and used the extra felt to make a Double Teardrop. I'm very satisfied with the results :

Thanks, guys . Somehow this hat had developed a lot of taper, and I stopped wearing it. After working with western weight felt, the delicacy it took to manipulate the Campdraft frustrated me to no end. I'm glad I gave it one more try .

Jimmy, that's a beautiful color, and one you definitely don't see often on an OR. Do you snap the brim down in the back as well?

The brim on that one is not snapped down. I tend to prefer having the brim very flat in the back, with just a bit of upturn around the edges (a look also favored by RBH and gtdean). The result is that, from the front, the brim almost appears to be turned down in back.

On a shorter brim lid (which, for me, is 2 1/2"), this kind of brim treatment also gives a bit more depth to the overall look (versus leaving a pronounced curl at the back of the brim).
