Scary auction earlier today.... someone had bumped a couple of my bids by 50 cents each time near the end... last few seconds I thought what the heck, I upped my bid by 51 cents... and won. A cute little Stetson 3x beaver 20. the description sounds a bit dubious to me ( "Dad bought it in 1951" and "never worn") With a square black tag and solid white liner Im almost doubting the 1951 part. The hatband also looks newer than 50's to me. but I could be wrong. Felt looks really nice and It has a really nice Stetson box that was worth the price of admission alone. Nice looking lid thats not too Western or Indiana Jones-ish... Guess Ill see how thrilled I am when USPS ground Advantage decides to get it to East Texas. The Seller immediately messaged me with a thank you and tracking number note, So Im hoping for the best.

Bradford "The Morris Calf Roper". Made for Morris' White Front Store in Fort Worth, Texas. The store has been around since 1905 or so, but from what little I'm finding it was owned by the Morris family from 1961 to 1967.

I did find an ad from 1961 for the model from Morris, but it was a raw brim edge with a single-cord ribbon (similar to the same model that Bradford made when it was Seymour's White Front Store), so I'm thinking this Open Road clone is later.

The building that came from is in the Stockyards of Ft Worth. Part of the building is now the Risckys Steakhouse ( great BBQ and steaks)and part is the 2 story outdoor Patio Bar for the White Elephant Saloon ( next to the big White Elephant Saloon) Had an Old Fashioned or twenty there over the years. Across the street from the Exchange Hotel where Bonnie and Clyde once stayed. About three blocks east of the "bar" that Buffalo Bill opened. He had visited Pawnee Bill there once and complained that the stockyards had no "horizontal refreshment" ... so he built one. I miss Ft Worth! History around every corner

Stetson Number 1 Quality, 4 inch bound brim. Probably dates about 1930's. Very small size that I'll deal with.

Picked up another hat on ebay that looks like it has potential be a gem. Cant really see most of it because there a celephane hat cover on it... Its a tan Adam hat that sort of looks like an Open Roadish/ western look with a bound brim. The bottom of the brim looks good, and liner looks clean, and Im hoping the crown and the top of the brim like just as good. For $19.55 it was worth the risk

Stetson Boss Raw Edge with The Fray sweatband. It has more mothing than I like but the pros outweigh the cons. This is probably going to be a late 1910's to 1920's hat, I imagine. The brim is about 3 1/2 inches finished or maybe about 4 inches before the curl was put on the brim.
