Picked up another project hat on the bay for cheap. A 4x Stetson silverbelly western with a totally deteriorated sweatband. Guessing about 5-1/2" crown and 4" ish brim. Felt appears to be a bit dirty but in decent shape. Just a few little crown holes where im guessing some idiot yanked the original ribbon off and pulled the tacking threads through. Sweat has to come out anyway so its going to get a good gas bath. My plan is to clean it up, sew in a new sweatband, add a decent ribbon ( or find a nice braided hoesehair) , and unless I find some big issue, just leave it pretty much as is for a shooting range sun hat. Didnt have a light color big rough duty hat... now I will. Will see how it turns out. I love these little " second chance at life" projects

Waiting for this beauty to show up. Should be here next week. A gorgeous Worth and Walden OR clone out of Dallas. I will post the details on that thread next week when it arrives. I got it from the FB marketplace and sent the shipping label and scheduled a UPS pickup from a seller who was only doing cash and Pickup. G-d bless Zelle and UPS. It certainly pays to ask.

I could not resist this summerhat for €9,93 including shipping. Don't know the brand, the material (milan straw??), the age etc....but i like the proportions of it, so i bought it. When i am lucky there's a label inside, but i didn't ask for it. And maybe the sweatband is leather?? I also think it's english, because of the sizelabel which says size 59 and 7 1/4.

Inbound from the bay - 25 Open Road. Hopefully this hat will arrive before month-end.

Silver Belly, and possibly mid-late 60's?

I’ve come so close to getting a Diamond Hornskov so many times. It always seems to end up as my second choice. So I’m feeling particularly jealous right now. The Panama looks great, too. You’ll have overtaken me soon!
I looked at Hornskov's hats several times before deciding. I kept coming back to the Diamond so decided to pull the trigger.

I decided to go for double or quits and added the Panama for summer. Hope it arrives before it's over.

Two hit the door today, and a Resistol Byer-Rolnick San Antonio is due right after the weekend, another Silver Belly.

Two arrived this morning when the postal truck backed up the driveway.
First, a Stetson 25 Open Road -Silver Belly. (Circa 1966- thanks to some of the Lounger's best guessers. What a fun hat, and it fairly quickly accepted a brim flip downward via patience with the new steamer!

Second, a new, inexpensive Stetson Los Alamos straw hat.
Photos, soon. Company will be arriving today, so more work until then.

Well now... made a couple "or best offer " bids a couple days ago was counting down the time to the end.... wound up winning both hats! One a nice looking "Excellent Quality" Stetson Bowler ( cant see the size tag so not sure how old this one is or isnt) crossing the fingers. The other is a decent looking "not exactly modern" Royal Deluxe Open Road. Keyhole size tag but no wind cord so Im guessing 60's/70s maybe? No liner so I ordered some new replacement liners ( have a couple other hats that could use new liners too... it was time to stock up!)

Now I get to wait and check the tracking 10 times a day to see where my hats go and how long they take to get here (hoping they arrive in a box and not a bag lol)

~1935 - 1942 (first use of the rondel with the city names — from the 1935 trademark info — through the latest hat with a known date on the sweat to use that rondel). The factory sticker style will swing that into one decade or the other. Looks like a nice one Rick!

Thrilled to hear that! My other Stetson bowler is about 1938 but its unlined. it had a piece of folded up 1938 St Louis newspaper under the sweat) I blew it and slept through the end of an auction on a BROWN Stetson bowler a couple weeks ago ... this more than makes up for it. Wish the open Road still had the liner... it might have given a few clues. Cant wait to go digging under the sweatbands of these two and see what can be found there!

I definitely hope the first one arrives in an appropriately sized box. I dont think that one would be as forgiving as the second.
