Sitting down playing cards reminds me of that scene & quote from Lonesome Dove, where Blue Duck (Frederic Forrest) has just shot & killed Monkey John's best friend.

Monkey John says, "Life is cheap up here on the Canadian."

Blue Duck replies, "It's apt to get a lot cheaper. Let's gamble!"

They're gambling over the female captives.

It's a dial phone & not the wooden box type.
I see no sidearms or weapons.
Not sure when spittoons would have been against the health code.
I figure the pic from 1920's - 1930's.
