Btw: My next door neighbor looks like her, no kidding.

She’s divorced single, a lawyer that works from the house.
Owns two colt revolvers.
Her language is “colorful” to say the least.
One time in a conversation, out of the blue, she told me:

“Hell,some s.o.b. banged away on the f--kin' door
and there I was with a crying baby on one hand
(she was baby-sitting) my colt on the other,
standing **** naked & PO’d big time...
I coulda shot that pecker-wood for waking up the kid!”

All I could think was “what’s the best way to reply and not antagonize
her further!”

She thinks the world of Polo!

Another tintype photo dated August 2, 1880 with William H. Bonney & Pat Garrett in the group has surfaced. Facial recognition software has certified that it is "most likely" Billy the Kid & Pat Garrett. Let the debate of the experts begin!

Bonney is 2nd from left; Garrett is on the far right.

Looks like some one took the task of having the folks in sharp focus while
everything around is soft.
Not sure if this was possible for the lenses of that period to do this.

My guesstimate...
Make copies of original.
Use online editor to sharpen the image.
Outline and remove the people only.
Drag & paste to first copy that was soft.
Now you have the folks in sharp contrast
to the rest of the image.

Of course!
The lens aperature can be adjusted to isolate the specific part of the subject you
want to focus sharply.

It just looks odd to me somehow.
Like H J said... it gives it a "3D" quality.
