The boy on the right is my grandpa, way overdressed for this sort of landscape. The clothes look really cool though. The boy on the left looks like has a sort of bandage for his chin. This is around Globe, Arizona (mining town) where my grandpa grew up. 1920s

Seems to me they used to tie you up like that when you had the mumps..

Hmmmm maybe I need to do some googling, i don't remember hearing about anyone getting the mumps anymore and what the heck was the mumps anyway ???

Thanks, buler, this is a great piece of documentation for hat boxes! The first documented existence of octagonal Dobbs boxes I could find was 1956 or 1957, can't remember which right now. I had always figured Hat Corp. switched all of their brands around that time, but here's proof that Cavanagh and Knox had already switched or else offered an octagonal alternative. Perhaps Dobbs offered both at this time, as well.
