Manfred, A while back I asked Mayser the same question but they had no idea how to date their vintage hats based on the paper label or any other feature. At least they replied back.

Did you try contacting the Borsalino hat museum? Probably only someone that worked at the old factory would have any idea. I actually have a cousin that lives in Allessandria and has been there most of his life (now around 80 years old).

Steve, I wrote to the press office and factory adress. Today a second try to the press office.
The museum would be worth another try.

I am not surprised. I also asked TONAK about JHS dating and they had no idea. I am sure there is information hidden or filed away some where but nobody cares enough to search for it. At least they should reply back and say they have no idea.

I own two Optimo Beavers. Comparing them to the Beaver Borsalino is like comparing Cuban cigars with Dutch Masters, if that makes sense.

Can you and some of your enabler friends post pictures of your Optimos? I've been in contact with Julie at Optimo. I've also searched but a lot of the photobucket pics have a short lifespan here.

All my Optimos are in the South side mobster thread. Look for page 130 post # 1298 and page 133 post # 1328 page. Both 100 % Beaver.

Thanks Ale. I don't get to Etsy very frequently, but this one had been just listed. I have a similar one, somewhat older but this one was in such clean condition I couldn't resist. Then, looking a little further, I found another. Don't they always come in pairs? That one is still there (hint).
