Pre- 1940s Stetson dress hats.

“Dress Hat” might be a stretch, but pretty sure the lot number (7415) puts it in the late 1930s.

Just got this grail hat! Still shocked I was able to find one! I’m guessing this is from 1915-1920, maybe someone more experienced could help confirm. It’s a Stetson Exposition Medals, this hat fits perfectly and is a beautiful gray with black band. Extremely good condition as well, I could not be happier!

1928 Stetson Challenge, Select Quality

If one turned up, probably an unmarked model & being Select Quality I’ll bet it would still be identified as an OR.

Jack, you are so right! But according to FleaBay and all the "Ai" models......EVERY Stetson (and most other brands, and some ball caps) are Open Roads.....;)

To those Sellers anything with a Rancher or Cattleman crease is an OR. That’s all they know. That doesn’t bother me; I know the difference.

What I was addressing was the “If it walks like a duck…” mentality that believes these unmarked models like the Challenge above are unmarked OR’s. That’s why some of us use the NOR designation for these unmarked models. It’s fun & interesting to try to identify such unmarked models.
