The Aero neck pain debate has been going on for forever, many theories are out there as to what causes it. For all I am concerned, the exact why does not matter, fact is I can wear jackets made from equally heavy or heavier hides from other makers and have no such issues, so it definitely is a pattern issue. Some bodies fit into Aero jackets, some don‘t. If I were you, I‘d call it lessons learned, move on my Aeros and buy something different instead.
You're definitely right. I should move on. I realized i should try some jackets from different makers to make sure.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

just from pictures alone, typically their jackets has smaller neck hole for its size, and have a normal joe relatively flat undeveloped trapezius muscle, I often see a perfectly fit board/ cafe racer here but the band collar really bite into the wearer's neck and probably can't be snapped close.
so probably some body type with smaller neck will never have any problem with it, but people with fleshier neck and carry more flesh on their shoulder would have problem with it. probably since their jackets are not typically high armhole.. you can put on soft shoulder pads and it might alleviate part of the problem

interesting assessment. i recall a thread where a member put on display his solution to the neck pain issue - his solution was indeed adding padding into the shoulder area.

I noticed that the angle from collar to shoulder is very flat in the cafe racer pattern, which results in these typical creases from neck to armpit. These disappear as soon as the shoulders are slightly padded and thus raised.
Perhaps the pattern comes from a jacket that originally contained shoulder protectors (or corresponding padding). At least this could be an explanation.
And all this could be the reason why the neck pain stops with the padding, because the jacket is then more on the shoulders instead of hanging on the neck.
But as I said, it's all just a theory from a clueless person.

Imagine going through so much trouble getting a jacket that cost a ton of money to not hurt you while you’re wearing it. Like, Aero should have this figured out by now. So many testimonials on this for so many years. But Aero clearly does not listen or care enough to improve their patterns. Take your money elsewhere.

I was going with plenty of aeros on the way, I ended up canceling them because of this reason. I should go with different makers.

Well, it obviously seems to work for many people.
And it's clear that the negative voices are always louder than the positive ones. Similar to car forums, where many problems are discussed, but what works well for many does not. If I'm happy, I just don't complain ;-)

Have not had the opportunity to try an Aero but have thought about them a few times. I wear an 18.5 inch neck dress shirt, would Aero patterns work for me? I understand that is a broad question but am curious.

I wear an 18.5“ neck shirt and Aeros size 38-40 hurt my neck, atleast in the Zip Sleeve Highwayman and A-2 style. In the Teamster and the Barnstormer the problem was not so prominent, so it may depend on specific styles pattern too.

Hey guys,

I saw a thread on here from late 2024, but wasn't sure if that was too old so starting a new one. The thread was about a number of people having issues with neck pain and pressure and not just from "shirt collar" style necks apparently but even the cafe racer style. Wondering how many have had this issue, particularly with the fitted styles like Sheene/Cafe Racer as well as the 30s and 50s half belts, which are the various patterns I'm looking at at this point.

Did you have this problem?
Did it resolve in time?
Was it bad enough that you didn't wear the jacket or sold it on?

If you did move on to another brand, can you recommend another brand in the price range that offers similar cuts to these styles? I like the body profiles of these jackets (particularly the Sheene/CR) and like them better than, say, Schott for their lack of adjustment straps. But I don't know a lot about many other brands. I've had a couple Schott MCs (118, 613) and that's it.

Sorry for so many questions around this jacket, but it's a big outlay for me and I only get to wear my leather a couple months of the year (Florida), so trying to make the most informed decision.

I see many Aero owners on here that seem to love them and a few that have sworn them off. Not sure if that's an overall issue with the brand and ALL its patterns or just the ones they tried.

As always, thanks for your help and God bless.

Grab a Vanson or a Johnson Leather is my advice. Both make CR-styled jackets that fit well and comfortably in equally thick and sturdy leather.

I dont think it is all patterns, it is my impression the buttoned styles cause less issues but honestly, as I stated in 2024 in this thread already, what do I care about the why, just have to acknowledge I cant comfortably wear them and move on and I wont gamble 1200 USD that a style different to the 5 I know dont may work for me this time around.

Is it possibly worth considering that some sorts of neck strength and/or flexibility exercises might be a cheap and useful alternative, if available?

My Aeros all felt like they were hanging off my neck rather than the weight being supported my the shoulders. I also got the neck to armpit creases common with this brand:

However, it was never painful and certainly not a dealbreaker. It’s a pattern that isn’t ideal for me, but there are so many pros to the Aero brand that I’d never rule them out in the future.

I had one of the Aero LVC jackets and that was uncomfortable at the neck and I sold it for that reason. I suspected the jacket had been laid flat with weight on top by a previous owner and this had 'set' the collar in an uncomfortable position, with sharper creases than it ought to have, but that was just my reading of it.

I had a halfbelt too which was always perfectly fine in the neck and was a very comfortable jacket to wear.

I have never heard of this problem until reading this thread. Never thought a leather jacket would cause neck pain. And it only happens with Aero? I never had an Aero, but I would think some sort of physical therapy or exercise would alleviate this problem, maybe for the neck, or maybe for the trapezius muscles or using dumbbells to put some more muscle on the shoulders.
