Picked up this Appalachian Police Jacket today. I'm stumped by its age. Any ideas?

It's in incredible condition. Corduroy flap around neck.

I have CAL and Starglove jackets and even though this is about as heavy, the leather is buttery sort in comparison.

Really nice large size (maybe 46). Too large for me unfortunately, unless I put layers under it in the winter.

Really impressed by the quality of this.

Appalachian name ended 1966 and became Taylor's leatherwear

Ahhh!
Fantastic to see a police jacket thread on here........though most of these look like they need a re-dye to me (the "teacore" looks too scrappy/unprofessional for a law officer).....but I guess I'd look a bit scrappy if I had a life on the open road for a couple of years then thrown in the garage/shed/spare wardrobe for decades ;)

My little collection are all Australian made and issued to various states and probably quite rare (we have state based departments, so bigger numbers of officers yet each state has VASTLY different designs for their departments, which makes collecting them challenging yet fun)

My only two American law enforcement jackets are a New Hampshire jacket (looks like a Chicago PD just with State Seal buttons, zipped liner and detachable fur collar) and a no-label lace-side CHP that could be a Cal/Al/Langlitz (the stiffener/ Beaver Tail wraps around like a belt rather than just a backplate, which I've found tends to be more "upmarket" in this style)
