It is hard to say from the photos but it looks like it would feel too short for me personally - I think also the fact it is hanging so high is just highlighting the space around the waist area but that could also just be the low camera angle.

Evening people. Just purchased this Aero CXL FQHH Highwayman. It’s great and fits perfectly on the shoulders. I am thinking the waist might be too larger however, as this is a boxy jacket and I have a thinner waist. What are your thoughts? First two photos are with the side straps pulled tight, and the last two are with them at rest.
It's not about the size. This jacket is a replica of the classic 1950s style. Therefore, it has a box-shaped design. If you're not satisfied with this, you should consider the Aero Premier 1930s Highwayman jacket. This jacket has a slim fit.

Thanks for the replies guys. In terms of length. I love a shorter jacket. I usually wear high waisted jeans and I think this would drape a little more with wear. Glad to have found this community!

Not a clue if that flare will relax over time, but I don't think anyone will notice it but you (and in a picture, as it is in the back!). One of the best fitting Highwaymans (Highwaymen?) I've seen as I usually find it makes people look chonky.

Really? Thanks! That gives me some confidence. Really don’t know how these will look over time so it’s tricky. I have a black one which is absolutely perfect as the waist was taken and another route 66 which is also a fitted cut so I guess I'm just not used to the blockiness.

I would say its never going to have a 'fitted' fit at the waist, and if thats bothering you now then the feeling probably won't go away, it has tags so presumably you could return it.

I've learnt from not returning things in the past that if something doesn't feel right about a fit to me on day one, that rarely changes. I know the Highwayman is supposed to be a boxy fit like this, would the Premier version be a better option?

I think it looks great. A bit of a flare in the straight in back shot, but I don’t notice it from the side.
It’s a bit of an accidental illusion actually. However i think as its still super stiff its going to come out. Its CXL FQHH so it will never drape like silk obviously but less so that 48 hours outve the box

Tighten the adjustment straps and it will be perfect
