I'd pick up this Hercules for $160 if there was any chance it fitted. Says size 42 but the pit to pit looks 21 at most.

Should’ve known! That’s a cool one for sure. Do you think you will treat the leather or leave as is?
If it's dry, I'll probably treat it with some Lexol or some other conditioner...but try to keep it as close to the original patina as possible. I keep thinking I'll never buy another CR, but this one was just too cool to pass up... It kind of reminds me of that famous brown padded beat-up Langlitz CR that Ralph Lauren occasionally wears :)

Is the gold label meant to be better quality than the regular label?
This jacket has the older label. It runs one size smaller and 1.5 sizes if the liner is used. This older label quality is a little better than the newerlabels. I personally owned one back in the day. I bought it during the late 80s in NYC because it was a great jacket for the money. BL is a superb jacket for the money. The X zips are constructed in heavy leather. Later, with the newer label, BL came out with a black top and a reddish-tinted hide, which is my favorite hide from them. Heavy and very pliable.

I've got a BG gold label jacket. The leather is nice - thin but substantial. I am actively looking for a second one and have wondered if there is a difference between the gold and black labels. Many sellers point out that theirs is a "gold label" and I'm usually thinking "does it make a difference?"

So the gold label is older and maybe a little better and fits 1-1.5 sizes smaller than labeled? Is that right?

That's a pretty decent jacket (Vanson) for $380 if you like a bomber-style jacket.
I have found that specific model Vanson sells for a little less due to being more bomber-style.

From what I've seen gold labels are just older. I've seen thicker ones and thinner ones. I just got a great deal on an Orchard MC one that had VERY nice leather that is on the thinner side. Sizing with them also seems variable - possible your gold label was just cut differently. I've only owned personally 1 of the gold label ones (and I have some of the ones with the embossed leather labels that I adore, including a 9 pound orchard M/C car coat)

Any idea what a reasonable price for this is? What do people think of this jacket? Seller sent me an offer for $380. Still on the hunt for my first high quality leather jacket, kinda lost. I like thick heavy leather.. almost like armour lol.
If it turns out you're not a flight jacket man and feel like shooting me a note I'll go through mine to see if there's anything you like. I'm a 46 and have a few duplicates in the mix that it sounds like you might be happy to own. A couple of them are comp leather, still look and feel new which for a Vanson means you'd need to wear it quite a bit to get it to soften up and become yours. They definitely would seem like armor to a man picking up his first jacket. I'm pretty sure I've got an almost brand new B and probably the same in an A. Black, IIRC.
