Maybe not a deal or a find? I love the design but still don't understand what makes these items so pricey or desirable. Happy to learn. https://rb.gy/7o68oa View attachment 723269

Beautiful. Unfortunately too small for me.
Ralph Lauren’s brand, marketing and design. Most of your money would not be paying for the hide, hardware or construction cost. The same reasons as to why LV or Hermes is pricey or desirable.

“Desirable” is subjective. Maybe to the general public who aren’t leather jacket enthusiasts, but RRL leather jackets aren’t desirable around here, where better alternatives exist.

Yeah, I don't know about this. RRLs are often repros of rare designs that no one else repros, and I wouldn't say they have poor hide or hardware, having handled them. RRL started in the early 90s; they predate every other repro leather brand except Aero.

They've also done stuff like collaborating with Schott to repro the 1940s Schott/Beck jackets; if that isn't TFL friendly, I don't know what is.

More something to go with a leather jacket (these would look superb with a nice halfbelt or workcoat):

Aero Hampden boots. Not mine. Spotted on eBay in the wild. UK Size 11.5 or I'd be putting a bid on. Dainite soles. Design based on a pair Ken had as a kid in the 50s, which were old-school football boots with the suds removed and converted into streetwear, which was a fairly common practice in those days. Fancied a pair of these myself but never quite had the cash to hand when they were available (Aero aren't currently doing footwear as their bootmaker has retired and they've not yet identified a new supplier).

I owned one of these years ago, had the 50s MW Windward label. These were made by California Sportswear, that is their horsehide tag with the late 40s MW California label.

I've seen this jacket on ebay. These are heavy horsehide jackets, a great buy. Mine was a bit small for me at the time.

The use of California on a label was a big selling point. CSC and several other companies sued over the right to use Made in California, and California which was being used by maker outside of the state. They won that right I believe in the mid 1930s.

@r.biker I think that German moto-ish jacket is terrific. Do you know if Vinted sellers typically ship to North America or is it restricted to EU and UK buyers?
Usually Vinted sellers are extremely annoying to deal with, but some of them will agree to deal outside of that accursed platform and send wherever you request at your expense.
I'm sure you can work something out with this seller though as it's a Vintage clothing company in UK.

Besides China and Hong Kong, de minimis doesn’t end until July 2027. Even then, there’s still fromjapan’s willingness to declare “gift” and low value.
