1940s, help needed asap.

I'm due to do a modelling shoot next month, and it's a 40s theme.
I only found out this week, and I desperately need help.
I've been looking online and in local libraries all week for ideas, to no avail, but then I came across this forum.
I hope it doesn't sound rude, but I really don't have time to read through posts to find out what I need before then, as I need preparation time too, so I really hope some of you could help me, I'd be so grateful.

So, I need some appropriate hair ideas&make up tips.
My hair is very dark brown, quite thick, naturally wavy and long (as in just covering my ******* sort of length?)
I have a um, slightly wide, oval face shape?
&I have quite pale skin.

Basically, I want ideas on how I should have my hair and makeup, based on the information above, and baring in mind I'm a novice, (I think the most I've done is use foam rollers to create ringlets), and that there would only be my mum to help.

Any help would be REALLY appreciated.

I've grasped the make up side of things.
It's the hair I'm panicking about mainly, I reckon I'll spend a weekend playing around with styles.
I'm struggling to find a style for my hair length at the moment?

Sounds like a fun job! I'd say wash & let your hair dry naturally (without much combing or brushing until it is quite dry), the either part it down the center, or do a side part that goes part of the way back, then get out your rollers & around the front roll it all the way to the top (should take 2-3 rollers on the front), and then roll the ones around the side & back just up to the ears. The 1940s "natural" looks are pretty easy to do, but the rolls get tricky (rats make it easier). I'd also say stay away from trying pin-curls until you have more time to perfect it.

The makeup for the 40s looks natural and quite modern, except with a very red mouth. The red was usually matte, I think, and they would use liner to change the shape of their lips. Eyebrows should be neat (not over plucked), arched, and look "done." You should also try liquid eyeliner to make your eyes dramatic, or you could use regular pencil on the lashline & use fake lashes.
