Vanson Streamliner Sizing

Hello to all - this is my first post!

I recently bought an XL Vanson Drifter jacket (perforated) and am considering a Streamliner for it. I use the jacket for its intended purpose - on my motorcycle - and would like to extend its usability to early spring and late fall.

My question is regarding which size to buy. The jacket is an XL which is roughly a US size 50. Should I go with a size 50 liner or size down to a 48 to reduce a little bulk (I fit into a standard US 48)?

I’m sure that I’m overthinking this but am interested in the opinions of those who have experience with this liner. Thanks in advance!

I got a 44 Enfield, L Chopper and 44 Highwayman and a 46 streamliner vest that fits well with all of them. So if going one size up is fine and is not that bulky, I would say staying in the same size would too.
Thank you for the reply! I’ll probably stick with a 50 then.

I've had a Streamliner and used it in a Vanson B. I have observations on that liner vest and eventually gave it away. They were:

- Orange seemed an odd choice of color for the interior of a leather jacket and

- Cold weather makes for a stiff jacket. The liner won't help that and

- It takes up a lot of available interior space.

If you're approaching maximum density for that jacket's size then it won't work. You'll need to be able to wiggle around inside that jacket a bit in order to fit a Streamliner. If you don't have plenty of room to wiggle, you probably can't comfortably fit a Streamliner. My thought was that it was more important to consider fitment between jacket and rider than to consider which liner might fit the vest. I also think it may be an anomaly that a 46 liner might fit a 44 jacket. Might want to check w/ Vanson to see what they say as a 46/46 fit so accurately that it left me w/ the impression that the liners were size matched to their specific jacket counterpart.

I gave mine away because I didn't have much wiggle room at the time.

Same here. 44 Russett HH Enfield with 44 orange streamliner to button in if/as needed.

Still one of my very favorites of the collection. Vanson HH was really nice.

The sizing of Vanson jackets can be a little confusing - their sport rider jackets fit “snug” (small) and cruiser style jackets fit “relaxed” (big). I normally wear a 48R. A 48 in the sport rider style fit me too snug and I had to go with a 50. The Drifter I bought is an XL which according to Vanson’s size chart is equivalent to a 50, but it’s a little too big/long for me. A large is equivalent to a 46 which would have been too tight on me. Their sizing is dizzying!

I’ll need to have my Drifter shortened and taken in a little, so my plan is to leave a little space for a liner. Per Vanson’s size chart, the streamliner is capable of increasing and decreasing two sizes from the marked size i.e. a 48 can be adjusted down to a 46 or up to a 50.

Sorry for the long winded reply! I definitely appreciate you sharing your experience.

Interesting!... and an indication that our friends at Vanson might be able to defy physics.

Per Vanson’s size chart, the streamliner is capable of increasing and decreasing two sizes from the marked size i.e. a 48 can be adjusted down to a 46 or up to a 50.

For Vanson to make a blanket statement like that then they'd nearly have to make a one-size-fits-all solution, no? If a 48 could be used for a 46 or a 50 then the same Streamliner spacing for a 46 would have to apply to a 44 and a 48, which would have to apply to a 42, which would apply to a 40... etc. At some point that might result in an unusual fit. There is much about tailoring that escapes me but I do have a few Vanson jackets and I do like them all. I never really thought about the style vs fitment before but you're right of course. Model A or B fit entirely differently than their sportier models and I thought all along that proper fit was a voodoo science. Thanks for pointing that out.
