Hi,

A Baracuta G9 is also on my shopping list for the near future.
Would you guys prefer navy or natural?
Personally I prefer the Mist to the Natural, I have a Mist one that I've had for years, goes with so many different things. But the Tan looks fantastic and is very versatile, and a classic colour for the jacket.

Navy is versatile but IMO doesn't really show off the jacket as well as the lighter colours.

The G9 has besome the go-to blouson for business-casual outings in our department. Here´s the colour ranking:
- 3 dark navy
- 2 military green
- 1 BRG
- 1 navy

I have the dark navy, but I have to admit that the navy has such a vibrant colour by still maintaining that somewhat understated cool that I´d probably go for this given another chance.

There is a rather new orangy colour called "flame" that I just love to look at, although I see no real-life usage for me personally.

Hi,

Thanks for your perspective. I think I will most likely gor for Navy color.
Mist looks nice as well though and has a certain Steve McQueen vibe.

What do you think about the G9's sizing?
My usually jacket size is 44 but I heard that they are slim fit. So would make sense to size up?

Tan can give dadcore on the golf course vibes if you don’t look like Steve McQueen. Navy is a good choice and shows off the tartan nicely - goes better with ecru jeans than dark denim. I don’t like reds that clash with the tartan, but good for channeling some James Dean vibes.

I know Baracutta are a big name, but if you want to pop the collar of a navy Harrington then the Royale Filmware version can’t be beat (copy of Tom Ford). Otherwise Jump the *** are the best value.

No, I find the sizing to be true to size. It’s a blouson, so you will get away with a slightly oversized look, but I just take my normal size.

There is excellent complete sizing information on their site, both based on boy measurements and garment measurements. They use UK sizing, so a 40" chest body measurement translates to a UK 44 or a US M (unless you want to layer under it). It's a slim fit but not overly so, it allows a lot of movement without being billowy.

IIRC (though I might be imagining this) when I bought mine they had both a classic and a modern fit available, but now only have the slimmer fit.

I can't speak for the quality of any repros or other traditional brands with similar designs, but there's a surprisingly luxurious quality to every fabric used by Baracuta. Fantastic hand to the outer textile, nice feel to the lining, and substantial cuffs and collar that don't stretch out. They make a great travel jacket as it's almost impossible to wrinkle the fabric, and water resistance os very good (it's easy to forget it was originally designed as rain gear because it's worn in all weathers these days). The back vents do help vent perspiration, too, and the pockets are a perfect size, with a handy button on the inner one.
