Thanks for taking the time to write this up.

Bog congrats on getting a grail jacket. Fits you really well, and the price I’d so much more bearable than what RMC charges over here these days!
Hi Tom, thanks for the kind words! Yeah it was an adventure throughout and while the jacket is quite pricey I hope to wear it a lot and and get a lot of use out of it and can't wait to see how it ages and conforms to me. Definitely a grail jacket! IMO makes a huge difference that I can try it before buying.

Great write up. Thanks for sharing.

If you still remember, what about The Flat Head’s fit did you not like? My understanding is that they fit slim people with well defined shoulders well which seems like would fit you well.

Thank you! Now let me try to get this right. FH was at a corner I believe in Harajuku row. I went in and there were three very nice gregarious salespeople. I saw the cafe racer jacket and asked to try a 38. I love how they size me up by looking at me and wondering if I knew my size lol. Anyways the 38 fit well around the torso/chest/shoulders but I was shocked the sleeves, especially the forearms were very tight when zipped up. My 689HH and J106 are both 36 and they aren't tight at all. Regardless, the owner I believe insisted I try a 40 and now the body felt boxy and the sleeves were too long. At this pt he suggested I try the deerskin version in 38 and 40 and the jacket was just too drapy for me and IIRC wasn't a cafe racer. I let it pass. Oh the owner also showed me a page in a magazine where I believe he was like the leather champion of some sort! I was quite entertained. Sometimes you put a jacket on and you just know it is right and sometimes you're like nope. this was the latter.

Also let me try to attach the very first RMCJ100 38 try on I did at the Tokyo flagship in Shibuya. This was the demo so it was tried on and broken in by many people and it fit great. The one I bought in Kyoto was actually a brand new one from the back I asked for so I wanted to do the break in, if that makes sense. I love this iconic look and the clean back/front and the overall simplicity. Goes well with my j106 if I wanted more complexity for the day. and the smell of veg tan is incredible. OTOH the RC speedster fit similarly well in 38. I just did not want the biswing back. It would be preferable if the j100 has one internal pocket but that's ok.

Yes, agreed. The fit on the J100 is excellent on you. Thank you for the further information. Glad you got to try multiple options on in person. Measurements are one thing, but it is hard to beat an in person try on.

Thank you! I tried my best to capture the experience and was writing from memory. We had so much to do and it was hot and humid so I wasn't able to hit up every leather store and those I did try to find, you had to work at it bc the storefronts weren't obvious. It was quite an adventure lol. I'm just glad I am able to try this on before making the purchase, ngl, wallet hurts for sure.

Yep! Definitely. I told my family, hey I want it to fit like Sergei's j100 from Fjorde youtube lol. But in the end it just felt right. Hopefully gonna wear it for a long time! Thanks for reading!
