I’m curious if you’ve gotten anything else from black bear. I’ve Come across their stuff on occasion, but have never pulled the trigger on anything.

Chiming in here on BBB.

I have their collaboration bomber from Y2, their western boots from Rios of Mercedes and the money-green corduroy jeans.

I really like all of those pieces. Interesting busines model, though. AFAIK, the “brand” is exactly that, in the sense that they actually don‘t manufacture anything but merely outsource design ideas for established models/patterns of various pieces of clothing. On the plus side, they always choose established partners, so quality wise, there is nothing to complain.

Personal decision if you feel comfortable with the (considerable) upcharge for e.g. a pair of Rio’s 10” Ropers, just because you like the design, but for me it works.

If I was in the US, I’d probably buy more, but for me it’s another 23% to get the stuff to my door. With the price increases of the last 18 months or so, that’s just not justifiable for me any more.

I would add to this that the shirt jacket I bought was used but was in like new condition so I got it for much less than retail. I agree the stuff that’s sold is well made but yes, it is pricey. Most of what I appreciate about the brand itself is the design and fit of the clothes. As a little bit of a work around (which I did for the jeans I bought) I actually bought them directly from the Japanese store using a proxy and saved a fair bit of money because of the cad dollar to yen exchange rate and it helped me avoid a lot the duties between cad and us right now.

Brown Kehoe today. I’ve lost weight recently, which is mostly good of course, but now I see that the Kehoe, which used to fit just right, is hanging a bit loose on me..
Also trying to decide if I can pull off the pork pie hat. Like many American men my age I’ve admired them since Gene Hackman in the French Connection. But feel like I may look a little too jazz-wannabe in one. Have to give it some thought.

Enjoy the weight loss as long as you can!

I‘ve lost ca. 12 kilos since last summer, and the upside is enormous. I feel I got used to my new/old weight far to early, and now I can barely appreciate the result at all. Like, complaining about jackets that are too loose now ;).

The pork pie is great, but then I am of that certain age myself…

Fresh out of the box. Lewis Leathers Lightning 402 in Navy Blue Horse.
Shoutout to @Motocann who posted a fit-pic of the same configuration when he visited the London store. Couldn’t pull the trigger fast enough…

This is one size up from my black Lightning and the same size I wear in the Dominator/Corsair (44).
I was aware that I’d end up with a roomy jacket and I did. Especially the boxy cut makes the pattern not ideal for sizing up.
However, as much as I love the size 42 Lightning, it’s not suitable for layering, and the restrictive back/shoulder part (no gussets, footballs, nothing) limits the use to the warmer seasons.
I’d probably need a size “43” in this, but I am ok with the look.

The colour of the hide is the bomb. Absolute Rockstar appeal, IMO.
