Guys, could you tell what size zipper is this crown? It came from a men’s suede jacket, 1950s Ralph Edwards.

I don't think they exist in black or in brass.
I'm not 100% sure but i think i remember Stuart telling me they all come in with green tape and get dyed in blue or black.

A while back i bought this LW jacket thinking i had come across a super rare zipper only to realise it had been painted with brass paint.
I asked Stuart and he told me they didn't exist in brass so they painted them...

Those crowns did come in bronze color. I have some originals. Additionally, I have one on my trojan repro.

So I could not help myself.

#12 Crown. The width of the pull is 1 inch. The width of teeth is 12 mm. Now I just have to figure out what jacket to put it on.

And next to a #10 Conmar. Lol.

Don't make me take the #12 talon... LOL I have both. In true honesty, the #12 crown feels better than the talon. I have #12 talon on a jacket and works flawlessly.
In the real world, I had used only talon #12 in my sailboat. They work well despite the exposed elements.

Outside of the rare Crown, which I’d need to buy individually, I thought about buying zippers in a lot NOS to save on cost and have extras for future use. For instance, 170 zippers including Talon, Conmar, Serval for $40 shipped seems to be a great deal.

Owning vintage leather jackets made me become a zipper collector/hoarder, not even by choice. At least they don’t take up a lot of space. I might need to resell what I don’t use.

I didn't realize there were Talon marked symmetrical zippers. I've never found a good exposition of how the molded teeth zippers are made. Are the teeth cast individually and crimped onto the tape, or cast in place? They all seem to be zinc of some sort (all the brass ones I've seen have been plated) so low melt temp, but the tapes never show even a little singeing. The plating would indicate crimping, as the acid would degrade the tape. On the Mash site it looks like the chevrons are repro, but the symmetrical tooth zippers all seem to be NOS.

Not the biggest #12 crown zipper. I have some nickel-plated chevron teeth. The slider is a beast. LOL.

I have #5 in golden finish plating. It is original on my LW Trojan. I also have NOS #5 that are being kept for some future Californian projects.
