Dobbs Golden Coach Fifty. Brim said to be
2 5/8 inches. The sweatband says the brim has a Guild Edge version of a Cavanagh type edge, but the brim is bound, so I don't know if the sweatband is wrong or if there's binding on top of the Guild Edge. Brad Bowers says Golden Coach began in 1962, so I suspect this hat dates not long after that. Some would call this a Dobbs Fifty Western, but this hat doesn't say Western on the sweatband, although it's basically the very same as a Western.

Stetson Number 1 Quality with about a 4 1/2 inch bound brim. Has condition issues and have to send it to be cleaned, etc. Probably some Lounge members were watching this on eBay.

Sometimes a hat you definitely do not need just shows up and has your name on it. In this case, very close to literally. A Julius Garfinckel from the Washington DC store was up on eBay and, even though I did pay more than I wanted to, I am waiting on a fine hat and hatbox with a great name attached. I guess this is how folks named Stetsin must feel looking at hats?

Stetson Number 1 Quality. This is a Boss of the Plains style hat. It has "Stanford 28" on the leather hatband, which I assume is for 1928. I don't need this hat, but mainly bought it to help date Stetsons of this period by Lot Number because the late 20's Lot Numbers are sort of murky and I want to clarify the situation with a hat that's dated.

I like the hat, but I'd guess that leather hatband adds some uncomfortable weight to it.
