Well there it goes Mark! You gone and done it! …… “Sweet Mother of Bobo the Clown!!“ That is one amazing hat!!!!!!Here's the second score from yesterday, a little rarer, I think, than the Resistol.
A Stetson Slant, in a beautiful soft blue. Purchased in 1943, from Falk's in Boise, by a woman living in Emmett (about 33 miles north of the capital). Research leads me to believe she likely purchased it for her 19-year-old son, or, less likely, her husband, who I judge would have been around 40. The son, by the way, lived to the age of 99, and just passed earlier this year. That's why I suspect he was the recipient, since it makes the timing right for this have recently made its way to a vintage goods dealer.

That is one fine weave, Randall!!I’ve owned some straws with super tight weave, but this old Cavanagh has the tightest I’ve seen.
Got it from a woman in mid Georgia on FB who said she was kin to Stetson Bennett. I told her to let him throw it on his head for a sec so the hat will hold even more sentimental value! View attachment 722229 View attachment 722230 View attachment 722231 View attachment 722232 View attachment 722233

For church today I wore the Gamble & ***n bespoke, dove grey fedora, but that's not what has distracted me from Mark's vintage hat. Tina's health continues to improve and now she is in her cabin sewing again.

The Sunday hats got delayed to Monday. First Sunday of August is the day of the Deventer Bookmarket (biggest in Europe), so that kept me occupied yesterday. But here are the hats of last week.
