Marc! I can't believe it, you found the jacket! :D I was looking for it everywhere, because the topic was spinning my mind from time to time, and I'm so glad it finally turned up. We can finally see the label! Does it say "Al Crowes" or "Browes"? I've googled the pic, the result is an Etsy sold item for near 90€...
Thank you for finding it!

@jeo bought it. Maybe he could share some additional pics?

Don’t have any pics on my phone but I’ll take some when I get back home. In the meantime, I found another one while at Inspiration LA.

Very Seattle Woolen looking back yoke. Sierra has this back yoke, but I’ve long suspected Sierra was made by Seattle Woolen. This one as well as the one I bought have a late 40’s Talon.

I wasn't able to forget this topic. Identifying leather jackets is a fun hobby for me, it allows you to dive among lots of photos, websites, listings... A heaven!

This jacket is linked to me, because I tried the same model a while ago. I thought this was a kind of early Taubers at first, but many details confirmed otherwise.

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to figure out which maker made this jacket... yet. But I found some photos of this same pattern that may offer more clues. Too bad there isn't any picture of the inside. There are those characteristic obelisks stitched in the lower back.

I'll keep reporting!

I found another one of this Al Crowes Custom Made Leather Coat of Snohomish, Washington, in a NC pawn shop. Lining is gone, jacket looks dirty. I like the front, but feel mehh about the back.

There was one listed on JP site a while back, confirming the name as “Al Crowes”

I bought this jacket, which appears to be the same black one shared by the OP upon inspection. Given how worn the body lining is and that there is no sleeve lining, I removed the lining to fix the loose stitching. In the process, I burnt some of the old stitching and realized that the original threads were cotton, not poly cotton. That dates this jacket to be before 1950 when poly cotton threads were commercialized.

That would be 1940s or earlier, and make it horsehide, which clocks at 4.6 lbs unlined for a size 38. The hide condition is still superb after several coats of conditioner. It has French seams everywhere.

The main zipper was replaced with a Talon #10. The sleeve zippers also appear replaced. All zippers still work well.

I found United Carr snaps in an inside belt loop that dates this jacket to mid-1930s. Top snap has an “H” in between the “United” and the “Carr”, whereas the bottom snap has a — bar in between.

I found another one of these under a Kit Karson label, by “Ideal Outerwear.” The back looks exactly the same. French seams are everywhere, in the same places in both jackets. For the front, the lapel’s angle also looks the same. But the Al Crowes that I own doesn’t have epaulettes, button sleeves, or a badge holder though.
