Cheers all hat folks, Eric -
I would likely not wear it, but come on; who wouldn't want a hat like that? What a thing!Back in 2011 I had an odd run of luck, coming across 3 old Stetson western hats within a few days... all with the same Real Nutria Fur mark, 7" crown 4" brim and wonderfully soft and furry black felt. The lot number on each was also close, suggesting a manufacture date on each circa 1925. I haven't seen another since. I sold the 7 1/8 as it was a little large and kept the other two.
Pulling one out as the hat of the day today I went back to look up the year I purchased it and found some photos I had forgotten. The sheepskin sweatband is very soft and supple so it was easy to explore behind the sweatband. I had no reason to remember the personal ownership scrawl at the time but since, Woodstock Vermont - a lovely town of 3000 folks - has become the home of my older daughter, her husband and my two grandkids. That's a lot of hat synergy coming together.

Really like the proportions on this one. And it's unlined, which I think is a bonus.Today I'm wearing one of my personal favorites...this Moss Green Stetson Bantam originally sold by M. Schwartz Company, Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Very similar to a ******* but with slightly smaller dimensions. I worked my tail off yesterday so today I'm gonna be lazy and do absolutely nothing. Lol.
