I always look at the boots too. You don’t see 1-5/8 walking heels & duckbill toes either.

Getting ready to hang tobacco leaves to cure, called housing. Weston, MO (ca 1900).

Tobacco buyers at the Weston Burley House annual fall Tobacco Show where buyers would negotiate & buy from the tobacco farmers (ca 1940).

The Weston Burley House built in 1937 is still used today for community events such as antique & flea markets, the Weston BBQ & Testicle Festival, & whiskey & cigar fests. It has been added on to & has an inside rail siding.

By the 1870’s the Velocipede had been adapted to ride the rails for track inspections.

It became a popular & sometimes dangerous past time to steal a Velocipede & court your best girlfriend on a ride.

The Quincy, Omaha & Kansas City Railroad (called the OK Railroad) was constructed during 1896 & 1897, & abandoned in 1939.

Iatan, MO was a bustling river port & steamboat stop on the Missouri River. It then became a regular train stop when the railroad was built west after the Civil War. Flooding in 1881 moved the river channel a couple miles further west & the Iatan businesses moved with it, dividing the town residents. In 1923 a spark from a locomotive burned the new town to the ground. The ruins of a hotel & a few residents living in the area are all that remain today.

Before NASCAR the only advertising allowed on stock cars was your hat size.

Later on (with more racers) you could include your hat size with other numbers, but the size had to stand out.
