Footwear to go with our jackets

Thank you! The more flex are nice on days I’d like lighter footwear.
Trickers normally is very heavy, especially with the thick leather mid sole and the commando soles. They seem like they’d last forever. I‘m a big Trickers fan. Heavy and now more flex light ones. Their build quality is very high.

This consideration was definitely a part of why I moved away from sneakers for casual footwear. I do currently have a pair of slip-on Vans that I inherited from the wife (she lost a fair bit of weight and went down a shoe-size as a result), my first sneakers in.... I think over a decade. They were nice and light at the height of the Summer hellheat and they're great for wearing like slippers round the house, so I might well keep another, single pair around for those in future, but TBH I don't really miss trainers at all. I'm much comfier in a decent leather brogue by this point.

Nice, I do like a grained leather for casual footwear. Is that an elasticated panel in the side, or just how the leather is cut?

That's elastic sides. I know very wierd with the lacing front. But it wears like chelsea boots easy on easy off. I am a shoes off inside house hold so it works for me. But I also felt weird about it at first. I think Trickers is popular in Japan too and it's mostly no outside shoes inside there too. Maybe that was the origin to this chelsea stow hybrid. Solid build quality though.

I’ve got a few pairs also. I actually prefer the lighter soles. I sold a pair of Bourtons recently that I got from the outlet with commando soles that were just too heavy. I might treat myself to a MTO one day also.

Sometimes the MTO shoes/boots ends up on the outlet. Especially in the past two years. I've gotten some treasures on the outlet.

Puts me in mind of boots that are laced-up and also have a side-zip, the zip being to fasten and the laces for ensuring a snug fit. Assuming the elastic panels serve the same purpose here? Of course, they can also more generally make the fit both snugger and more forgiving; I know I find, moreso with taller boots that reach towards my calves, I have to be careful the shape of the boot is right to fasten properly on me there.

(in)side zip works well for taller shaft boots. I still need to test them wearing in heavy rain but there is a flap on my side zip ones so I figure that would help keep most of the water out.

I tried on a pair of Attractions and they were really nice. Unfortunately, the instep was much too deep for me so I had to return them. Leather was beautiful though, nice Maryam horsebutt from Italy.
