This one just speaks volumes to me.

My grandfather sold a car in the depression because he couldn't afford a battery for it.
Buying a car?
He told me to always check the condition of the trunk. That will speak volumes about the care the car was given.

Colored Tintype Photography

Trying to establish a timeline for this photograph, tintype photography was popular in the 1860's - 1870's & continued to be used up into the early 1900's. Hand coloring of tintype was most popular in the mid to late 1800's. Albumen prints were beginning to replace tintype & becoming the norm by the mid 1860's.

What catches my eye are the hat, the wide lapel & fancy bow tie, & the lack of facial hair for the era.
