I wears a suit and fedora five or six days a week, something "casual" with a cap the rest.

4 single-breasted 2pc suits

1 orphaned coat and matching waistcoat

It gets me through. I need a summer coat, though. I'm currently roasting!

Me too. I've come across several linen sport coats and a linen suit as well. However, I'm having good luck finding vintage stuff at a casual pace so I might just wait till something turns up. I have several modern ones and as I find their vintage equivalent, I'll probably donate the modern ones to make room. Might be good to keep just 1 or 2 modern ones for more 'risky' ventures through (BBQs, etc).

Apparantly I own more suits than my wardrobe can handle... Luckily I'm just about to buy my dream house (built 1924 and still have the original kitchen!), where I'll get a ca 4m^2 walk-in-closet.

I got my 10th vintage suit yesterday. I also have around 10 odd jackets/blazers. All suits have been bought within the last year, and I think that it's time that I slow down and focus on other parts of my wardrobe, i.e. hats, shirts, trousers and socks.

''Roughly reckoned, his wardrobe consists of two dress suits (rarely sued except in movies), a couple of dinner jackets, both double-breasted (with a single-breasted on "on the way"), and about 20 other suits. "I gave away about a half dozen the other day," he says. "I hate to see them hanging in the closet, unused." Added to this he has perhaps a dozen sport coats and a variety of gray flannel trousers and cotton slacks—"a couple of dozen leisure combinations."

Might be useful as a sort of benchmark for some.

He also admits to not wearing a large bunch of them - a problem most "obsessive wardrobe collectors" know.

I have for active wear 20 suits and combinations and 5 coats.

12 Pairs of Dress Pants (Separate From Suit Pants)
3 Pairs of Shoes (Two Pairs Of Black Oxfords, One Pair Of Black Sneakers, For Recreation)

I'm sure I'm missing a good deal of other things but that's what I can remember off the top of my head.

I have only one suit. It's the one I bought to get married in, and I'm not sure it would even fit me these days.
I do have three sport coats and half a dozen pairs of slacks, and a modest (few dozen) collection of vintage ties.
At the moment, I don't even own a dress shirt. I gave the only one I had to a friend a few years ago when he was going through child custody hearings. I figured I'd just buy a new one if the need arose, and obviously so far it has not.

Ha Ha! Good point.
They are for collection, but also I wear them, just not recently. Right now I have children who are still small, and wearing a tie while holding a baby is.....well, it's just a mess.
I have no need for a suit or tie in my line of work (a tie could be downright hazardous) so for now I will just enjoy them being in the wardrobe, while I enjoy the kids being little.

I've recently streammlined my suit collection to eliminate those that don't get worn often enough to justify having them in my wardrobe. Therefore I'm now down to five wool suits, one linen suit and two odd jackets. I find this to be a far more workable number than the 10+ that I used to had.
