To be honest, the grey herringbone and the brown PoW check would have gotten top dollar whatever the size. I would imagine (because I've seen it happen before) each of those topping $250 even for a Sz36.

Good point. In fact, I think that the suits in the "Holy Grail" thread would have fetched even more money had they been smaller in size. They would have attracted more bidders from Japan.

Arrived this morning and is beautiful - will get some better pictures posted in the suits thread in due course.

Interestingly, it had no back adjuster on the waistcoat so had to sew one in myself. It was unusual because the waistcoat was sized slightly larger than the jacket and there is no evidence of the jacket being taken in or the waistcoat let out...

Yes. An unfortunate case --for the seller-- of a Palm Beach cloth suit that doesn't meet the masses' criteria (since it's not light-colored) and doesn't attract the ******** enthusiasts (since it isn't double-breasted and/or doesn't have pleated pockets and/or a belted back, etc.).

Also, I'd think the 20.5" sleeve (plus 1.5" available for extension) would limit the pool of buyers considerably.

I would've thunk there were quite a lot of size 42 short stout vintage enthusiasts. There were certainly quite a few that would fit the bill from among the folks I knew in the US.

I was the one that bid it up to $53.93 … I was going to have it altered down. Beautiful suit.
