I have recently become a fan of the Negroni. It has been an acquired taste but is now a favourite!

The best I have had at a bar is the Queens Negroni in the Commodore Club onboard Queen Mary 2. I failed to copy the recipe, foolishly, but am trying to get it!

My home version is from none other than actor Stanley Tucci, from his recent book on hks life and food.

He calls it the Negroni Up. I call it Negroni a la Tucci:

2 ozs gin
1 oz Campari
1 oz "good" sweet vermouth

Add to shaker with ice (you read that correctly), strain straight up, add a slice of orange.

Drink it.

The sun is in your stomach.

His words.

Old Fashioned, but most establishments have pretty much butchered it.

Vesper, Negroni or whiskey sours are my go-tos.

If I’m at Mecian bar then Palomas, micheladas and vampiros. Instead clear of margaritas unless unless I think they know what they are doing.

Traditionally the Negroni is 1:1:1 Gin, Campari, and Sweet Vermouth

I generally do 2:1:1

Stirred then served over a "big" rock with a twist

Also do them with Mezcal and Bourbon/Rye (a Boulevardier)

And AI gives me this:

A Negroni is a cocktail, and in the context of the Commodore Club on Cunard's Queen Mary 2 (QM2), it can refer to a standard Negroni or a signature "Queens Negroni". The Queens Negroni, a special drink for Cunard's Negroni Week in September 2025, featured Queen Victoria Gin, Campari, and Regal Rogue,. The Commodore Club is a popular bar on QM2 offering signature cocktails, including those named after notable Commodores

Thanks for the recipe for the Queen's Negroni!

I do love a Negroni! Boulevardier is also excellent; I was happy to see it on a cocktail menu here recently but not something I see a whole lot.

I’ll also gladly take a gin martini, or a gin & tonic, or just a bottle of gin and somewhere to sit.
