Thinking about stopping at either McDonalds or Burger King...a big Mac or quarter-pounder with fries seems the ticket tonite.

Red flannel hash topped with a poached egg and Mrs Ball's Chutney. Marble rye toast with butter. Glass of cider.

Pork bahn mi burgers on toasted Kaiser rolls with cilantro-lime mayo and quick pickled cucumbers. Tater tots on the side.

Pork cottage roll done in the crock pot with chopped onion, sliced carrots and 2 bay leaves. Mashed potatoes, mashed rutabaga and steamed cabbage. Vanilla pudding with chocolate caramel whipped topping for dessert.

Cooking tonite. Very rare deli roast beef tossed in with Campbell's beef soup. Italian bread. Cold Miller Lite.

Last night was shrimp etouffee and PBR.

A very Fedora Lounge, Golden Era dish. My mother's few errant attempts at cooking it turned me off for ever, but I'm told by people raised by mothers or fathers who could cook, that it can be a tender piece of meat (tender was not on the list of accurate adjectives to describe my mother's version).

It turned out remarkably well. Tender, tasty and all. Thats saying something for a guy thats all thumbs in the kitchen

I realized last night that I'd probably need to go grocery shopping today, and I. REALLY. DIDN'T. WANT. TO. After making sure I had coffee for a couple days, I decided to see what I could throw together. Tonight's dinner is a vindaloo for which I managed to come up with the ingredients. I'm out of jasmine rice, so I'm settling for brown rice. Maybe I'll cook something more-conventional this weekend.
